DESCRIPTION: Although I am type O of African ancestry, I have been following a vegetarian version of the type O diet. My mother is a type A; I wonder if my recessive gene is also type A? I consume no animal flesh whatsoever, although very rarely I may eat organic dairy (butter, lo-fat cheese.) My spiritual senses have been heightened since I chose to not eat meat. I feel my most significant results have come from eliminating wheat and corn from my diet. I suffered from digestive difficulties and chronic candida. I also exhibited symptoms of hypoglycemia (period blood tests showed low suguar) although I was never diagnosed clinically as hypoglycemic. I am now candida free and very rarely will I experience any gastric discomfort. I have tested myself periodically by trying a small bit of wheat, however my conclusions are always confirmed as I experience an immediate jump in pulse rate, followed by intense inner ear pressure and then I nice case of tinnitus that sometimes lasts for 24hrs or more. I am curious to know whether or not your lectin research was done with seeds that were yielded from genetically hybrid or pure seeds. Is that the reason that type O's can tolerate spelt --- because it is not a hybridized wheat? Where can one even FIND pure seeds these days?? I am very concerned about the threat of genetically engineered foods in the main food supply. I read an excellent reference on genetic engineering and factory farming by Michael Fox, "Eating with Conscience -- The bioethics of food." I am currently a part-time student working towards a food science and nutrition degree. I am hoping to one day conduct research of my own following up on your work and specifically focusing on African populations in the diaspora (i.e. the Americas, Carribean, and on the continent.) Thanks to you Dr. D'Adamo for writing your book. It has changed my life.Signed "Wheat-free and happy",Angela
