Haplogroup R is a human [mitochondrial DNA haplogroup]?.

Haplogroup R is a descendant of macro-Haplogroup N. Among its descendant haplogroups are B, [Haplogroup U (mtDNA)? U], [Haplogroup F (mtDNA)? F], [Haplogroup pre-HV (mtDNA)? pre-HV] (and thus [Haplogroup HV (mtDNA)? HV], H, and [Haplogroup V (mtDNA)? V]), and the ancestral haplogroup of J and T.
