Mannose-binding lectins are inhibitors of SARS-like coronaviruses. Best food sources of mannose-binding lectins? Monocots, such as leeks, garlic and onions. Fresh crushed garlic probably best.

Mannose binding lectin (MBL) is also made internally via the MBL2 gene as part of the body’s immune complement system. Low levels of MBL are well-associated with immune compromise, most famously repeat ear infections in kids, and variations of the MBL2 gene are though to be responsible for the fact that between 7% and 30% of the population among Western countries is deficient in serum mannose-binding lectins.

Perhaps another strategy might be to work on increasing one’s own internal MBL.

Here are a few possible options

  • Vitamin D (supplement or sunlight). MBL levels are known to drop during wintertime.
  • Avoiding second hand smoke
  • Larch arabinogalactan (increases MBL2 in two studies; one with humans)

    According to the Paper you quoted above:
    All mannose-binding lectins, except for the lectins isolated from garlic, had anti-coronavirus properties.

    But you said in your article that Lectins from Garlic are effective against the Corona Virus. Can you explain or are there other studies?
