| CHARACTERIZATION | Didemnum ternatanum lectin (DTL) is specific for N-Acetyl-D-glucosamine. Didemnum candidum lectins (DCL-I, DCL-II) possesses lectin activity directed toward galactosyl moieties. |
| BIOACTIVITY | Although both DCL-I and DCL-II will agglutinate neuraminidase-treated erythrocytes from all vertebrate species tested and most Pronase-treated erythrocytes, DCL-I will agglutinate some untreated erythrocytes which are not agglutinated by DCL-II. |

| INHIBITORS | In hemagglutination inhibition assays among the mono- and oligosaccharides tested, N-acetyl-d-glucosamine, N, N'-diacetylchitobiose, N,N'N"-triacetylchitotriose were the most potent inhibitors. |
