| LECTINS | AAA |
| MOLECULAR IMAGE | ![]() | CLASS | Monocot mannose-binding lectins |
| NOMEN | LECp.All.Asc.bu.Hma1 |
| INDEX | Plant lectin / Plant / Bulb / Hololectins / Mannose-binding lectins |
| CHARACTERIZATION | AAA also reacted strongly with the highly branched yeast mannan obtained from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The lectin occurs as a natural mix of isolectins. Pure preparations of shallot lectin strongly inhibit MT-4 cells by HIV-1 and HIV-2 in vitro. See: Plant Mol. Biol. 1993 (23): 365-376 |
| BIOACTIVITY | The lectin readily agglutinates rabbit erythrocytes, but not human. See: Phytochemistry 1991 (30): 509-514 |
