| INDEX | Plant lectin / Plant / Root / Hololectins / Gal/GalNAc-binding lectins |
| CHARACTERIZATION | A similar lectin was isolated from the roots of Ononis hircina See: Biochim et Biophys Acta 1978 (539); 287-293 |
| BIOACTIVITY | It is relatively specific for human type O erythrocytes that are agglutinated at a minimal lectin concentration 0.3 microgram/ml. The lectin agglutinates A, B and O erythrocytes with a preference for O erythrocytes. The lectin is not mitogenic when tested with rabbit lymph node lymphocytes. See: Biochim et Biophys Acta 1978 (538);299-315 |
| SOURCE TISSUE | Root |
| SPECIFICITY | GalNAc(>Gal>Lac) |
| INHIBITORS | Inhibited most effectively by N-acetyl-D-galactosamine and a number of D-galactose derivatives. |
