| CHARACTERIZATION | |
| BIOACTIVITY | The haemagglutinating P. acutifolius isolectin F2 reacts with erythrocytes from most animal species and the lymphoagglutinin T2 is a potent agglutinin for isolated human lymphocytes. See: Phytochemistry 1987 (26);1009-1013 When incorporated into artificial diets for the important seed-feeding bruchid, Acanthoscelides obtectus, a partially purified lectin preparation that could not be adsorbed by thyroglobulin-Sepharose affinity chromatography significantly increased the time required for larval development. However, mortality levels were not increased with increasing doses of the lectin. Plant Physiol 1990 (93); 1453-1459 |
