CHARACTERIZATION
BIOACTIVITYFor discussion of anti-H(O) activity, see: Lect. Biol. Biochem. Clin. Biochem. 1985 (4) 321 SEA agglutinates rabbit and human erythrocytes with a preference for type A over type B and type O red blood cells. See: Planta 1986 (168);113-118 Ebulin is a typical Type 2 RIP but no data have been reported on its agglutination activity. Ebulin inhibits protein synthesis in mammalian but not in plant or bacterial cellfree systems and also exhibits RNA N-glycosidase activity. Ebulin is not toxic to mice and does not affect protein synthesis of cultured NHC human epithelial cells. J Biol Chem 1993 (268); 18 195-18 199
