| INDEX | Plant lectin / Plant / Seed / Hololectins / GlcNAc/(GlcNAc)-binding lectins |
| CHARACTERIZATION | The rye lectin is very closely related to wheat germ agglutinin (WGA). See: Biochem J 1982 Apr 1;203(1):239-43 Similar lectins have been found in S. kupriianivii, S. montanum, S. silvestre and S. vavilovii. See: Planta 1983 (159);105-111 |
| BIOACTIVITY | The erythroagglutinating activity is the same against human red blood cells of all types of the ABO system and is inhibited by N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. The lectin has no mitogenic activity against mouse splenic lymphocytes. See; Acta Biol Med Ger 1982;41(9):771-80 It also agglutinates rabbit erythrocytes. See: Biochem J 1982 Apr 1;203(1):239-43 |
